Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted simultaneous raids across six locations, including Kolkata’s Kestopur, Kakdwip, and East Midnapore, in connection with the NRI quota medical admission scam. Investigators are probing allegations of fake certificates being used to secure medical seats meant for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Officials are verifying documents linked to multiple students suspected of gaining admission through fraudulent means.
One of the key locations under investigation is the Kestopur residence of Dr. Subhasis Chakraborty, a government hospital doctor from East Midnapore. ED officials are scrutinizing certificates related to his daughter’s medical admission. They are also examining financial transactions to determine how much money was allegedly paid for these fraudulent documents. Officials have reached East Midnapore to expand the probe and gather further evidence.
According to sources, multiple doctors, students, and intermediaries are under the scanner for their alleged involvement in the racket. Authorities suspect that forged certificates were used across various medical institutions to manipulate NRI quota admissions. The ED is analyzing digital records, bank transactions, and communication logs to track the network behind the scam. More searches and legal actions are expected as the investigation progresses.
